Change is in the Air

mousmeAs of tomorrow, Joe Biden will be President of the United States, and Kamala Harris will be his Vice President. History in the making. No crowd at the inauguration ceremony, but instead there is a "field of flags" to honour the victims of COVID-19, and the pictures that have come out so far have been beautiful and chilling. A powerful image (one which has invited obvious comparisons to Trump's inauguration photos, which showed swathes of empty seats), and a pretty terrible reminder of the world we're living in right now.
I will have to try to find a way to watch the ceremony tomorrow. I've been paying attention to the news but not discussing it much on here, mostly because you can't choose the history you're living, and the feeling of being very, very small in the face of something enormous has been all but overwhelming.
On the plus side, it was an uneventful day at work and I got stuff done, so no complaints on that end. Peggy is exhausted from a long day at daycare, and I am planning a bit of Stardew Valley before bed. Things could be much, much worse.

Date: 2021-01-20 01:34 am (UTC)Also, thank you for the unintended recommendation of Zen Koi 2. It's better than knitting when I want to just do nothing but also do something for a few minutes. I think I'm also going to try your idea of getting some fidget spinners for when I have to be in meetings. I find doodling tends to distract me too much now, but I need to be doing something when I'm listening or else my mind wanders off.

Date: 2021-01-20 06:31 am (UTC)I have a very basic fidget, not a spinner. It's a mesh tube with a marble in it, and so far it's been pretty decent as a way to keep my hands busy during meetings.
