This is the part where I apologize for not posting, as usual. I do read everything you all post, for what little that’s worth.

Contrary to my old habits (I’m talking many years ago), I have stopped posting here when I’m struggling with my everyday life. To be honest, posting about that stuff just feels exhausting, and so I put it off, and then there’s so much to catch up on that I feel overwhelmed, and the thought of even trying to catch up makes me do the psychological equivalent of sticking my fingers in my ears and yelling LA-LA-LA I CAN’T HEAR YOU.

This post is not going to be the “catch-up” posts. For one thing, my beloved MacBook is gone. The brand new logic board I got for it 11 months ago gave up the ghost, and I can’t justify spending $900 to replace it when the new one probably won’t last either. So right now I’m posting from my phone, which is not great.

(I do have another computer, which I will talk about in another post, but it’s a desktop and is in another room, and I miss the convenience of being able to access the internet from my laptop on days like today when I’m just trying to relax in bed before my night shift. It’s a small inconvenience, but still.)

I can’t promise I will post more. I will try. Most of my community is gone from LJ, though, and it makes me a little sad to post here and then see so few of the “faces” from long ago on my friends’ page.

I should start writing again here, though. Writing used to help me process stuff, at least. Maybe I’ll challenge myself to write every day in November, like a pseudo-NaNoWriMo. That might get me back in the rhythm of things.

I have similar issues with feeling like a “catch up on all the things” post is overwhelming. And takes forever. And then I, being me, get sidetracked all to hell and manage to cover less than half of what I wanted to anyway, always ending with I really wanted to geek/blather/rant/discuss ____insert subject here___. Which NEVER happens. A year ago, I said I wanted to geek a bit on the bit on the spectrum qualities displayed by Newt Scamander. Six months ago, I wanted to gush about the singular gloriousness of what an effin’ cinnamon roll James Holden is. I can’t seem to get around to it. Plus, who reads it anymore anyway? Oh, for the days when all you wanted out of a Sunday morning was to talk about the furrowed brow of Sam Winchester and drink coffee and...it was there. Mew. Memories. Jesus, I almost got misty-eyed over missing comment fic.

I think writing every day in November, be it on one thing or writing exercises or any of it is a brilliant idea. There will be days where not much will be produced, but it’s still a great idea. Writing keeps my head clear. I may steal this idea from you and would gladly do it with you.

Boopants on the MacBook. That sucks so much. I’m with you, having the ability to do basic computing from the bed or couch beats the snot out of going to sit at the desk. I think it’s why I love the iPad so. I use it for everything but actual writing and file transfer shit. If it died, there would be woe. How much do you have to save to get a new laptop?

Let me know if you want to egg each other on to write bits of stuff in November, I think that sounds awesome. :D

Hi - glad to see you around here again. :) I'm still reading, too, but not saying much.

Helloooooo, I am happy to see you. Also, yes, I completely get the not-posting spiral you described. Been there, done that.

I’m around pretty consistently, at least.

Yes! It's always great to read your stuff, especially since I'm not really on Facebook these days. I'm going to try to be more consistently on here.

I know I knew who you were on Facebook but I confess I can’t recall now! Anyway, no apologies required for being absent here a while. We all have been there, done that. <3

I pretty much never post to my personal LJ now, but I still lurk, and I'm glad to see you're still around, though I'm sorry you are dealing with real life stuff and computer woes. If you do a November posting binge, I'll be here reading.

I was just thinking about you the other day, and how you weren't around anymore, which was sad. Glad that's not the case!

Been feeling sad about the loss of the LJ community as well. :( NOT THAT I EVER POST OR ANYTHING. :P

If a structured writing challenge would help, I've found [livejournal.com profile] mini_wrimo helpful. You sign up with a daily word count goal (minimum is 100 words, and goals in the low hundreds are common, at last I have found my people) and check in every day in November with your actual word count. I've had two successful years in the community and have signed up for a third!

It feels like a self-fulfilling prophecy, doesn't it? No one posts to LJ, I feel sad and post less, people don't see me interacting and post less, vicious cycle ensues.

I've done mini-wrimo in the past, but right now I think I just need the liberty of not having a word count goal.

I'm still posting! Though I have noticed my friends list has been quieting down lately.

Glad to see you pop in. I hope to see you again :)

I'm going to make a good faith effort to stick around. I've been reading your posts about foster/adoption with great interest!

Aw thanks. I'm worried I'm starting to bore people with it, haha.

We've met through Fearsclave in ages past, and I still release breaking news on occasion.
