Adventures in house hunting

The buyers who were supposed to come by the apartment today never showed up, which blew a giant hole in the middle of when I was supposed to be sleeping. I am displeased, but the real estate agent assures me this will not happen again. Time will tell.

I am going back to see the place with which I fell in love tomorrow afternoon. I am taking the Maternal Unit with me, because she has bought and sold lots of houses over her lifetime and I trust her experience in these matters. Her opinion won't make or break the decision to buy, but I want another pair of eyes there in order to potentially dump a bucket of ice water on my head if I need it.

I am about 90% sure that I will be making an offer by this time tomorrow, although that doesn't preclude my continuing to visit other houses during the negotiations. I really hope that no one else buys the house from under me, and that the current owners and I will be able to reach an agreement that's suitable for all.

The short version of the story is that I'm trying very hard to remain level-headed and objective and calm about this whole thing, but really all that's happening is that I have "HOUSE!!!" \o/ \o/ \o/ "HOUSE!!!" on loop in my head. ;)

Oh wow!! N and I looked at the property, drooled over the kitchen, and N said, "Okay, tell Phnee that I can move in when she's got the place." We love the kitchen, for sure, and I drooled over the huge bathtub and the gardens!

Would you believe it looks even better in person? The photos make it look bigger than it is, but that's actually a plus for me since I'm alone to take care of it all.

I want to do nothing but be in that kitchen all day long cooking and baking and canning. \o/

That is a super cute house and I love the inside, but the pool will be a pain to keep up for one person. I suspect this is not insurmountable though!

I figure that I can always have the pool dismantled if needs be. Having a pool was not my first choice, but the rest of the house is wonderful enough that I'm willing to deal with the hassle.

Yeah, that's what I figured. the bathroom is amazing though, and I love the floors... It looks like it is a great size for one person, or a couple, also.

Isn't it gorgeous? You have to come see it as soon as possible (when you get your passport). If I can, I'll be buying it. The only thing that will prevent me from buying it is a big hidden defect that someone else (someone not me) will spot, or if it gets bought out from under me. I'll likely be making an offer tomorrow.

Camp! wasn't festival this year as the Princelings were with me. I've been doing it in weekends and some friends have a seasonal camp there. It's been delightful. Will be good to see you!

(the house hunting dreams are never stressful, unless it's one of the dreams where I'm looking for the bathroom and for some reason the house doesn't HAVE any....the houses just go on forever, have weird passages, bedrooms with pea green carpeting tacked on to foyers with marble flooring)
