I need a coffee icon.

Tim Horton's has imposed DRACONIAN new measures when ordering food. Now they give me a little slip of paper whenever I order anything more than a coffee, and I have to wait at the counter for my food. If I fail to provide my slip of paper, they DENY ME MY SANDWICH.

It's a BLT, PEOPLE! Not a freaking Fabergé Egg!

As I understand it, this is a new countermeasure against a rash of BLT-related larceny at the local Tim Horton's.

I haven't been to any other Timmy's lately, so I have no anecdotal data against which to compare my own experience, and thus no way of knowing if it's a city-wide sandwich-theft spree, or if it's specific to my local hole-in-the-ground Tim Horton's located at Atwater Metro.

It's a little vexing. Not terribly so, but a little.

On the plus side, one of the other shops nearby has started selling Bubble Tea. Score!

Y'all never took me to one of those places as you promised when I came to the GWN. Now I may never see one.

You'll just have to stop by Montreal, and I will take you. :)

I do not have a Tim Horton's. As I understand it from various Canadians I've spoken with, this means I am deprived of one of Life's Great Pleasures and they are very, very sorry for me.

Indeed. It is exceedingly sad that you do not have a Tim Horton's. If you're ever in my neck of the woods, I will be happy to introduce you to the crack.

I seem to remember seeing a little slip of paper handed to me at the one on Guy this morning, but as I was the only one in line (10:55am, on the first day back at school and there isn't a line up out the door at the closest Tim's to Concordia University? FTW!!), I wasn't too concerned about not getting my extra large double double double cup with two apple fritters to go.

Yeah, I have a standing Tim's order. Does that make me sad or a Canadian? Things to ponder.

Moo? Um, really? People stealing other people's lunches, I'm assuming here or was this some patented Phnee facetiousness? :-)

PS Do I sing here or just post something tomorrow? Ah FIA, it's tomorrow...

Little bit of Column A, little bit of Column B. ;)

My Tim Horton's guy knows me by sight and name and by the kind of coffee I order. Occasionally I surprise him by varying the kind of muffin I get. :P

My "former" Tim's guy knew me, as well (18 months of mornings, they damned well better), and actually had my order waiting for me at the cash for the last 6-8 months....

Creatures of habit are habitual..... :-)

I was present at a Starbuck's when Jenn's Peppermint Mocha got poached and the barrista said that it happened all the time and they just provided another one.

I guess Timmies isn't well off enough to let a few sammy's go astray!

Cats got here before me! But yeah, one of the few times in my life where I've ordered from Starbucks and my drink gets stolen (in an affluent neighbourhood, I might add.) Never in the times that I've been to a Timmies have I had anything go missing! Perhaps the spree in your area is being perpetrated by a rogue sandwich lover!

We got a slip of paper when we stopped in Kingston, so I'm thinking it's a general new procedure.

Stealing people's food. Good grief. I mean, sure, there will always be a certain amount of mistaken orders, taking someone else's by accident (which is never fun because you don't get what you wanted and neither does the other person) but premeditated sandwich and double-double theft? Appalling.

Hmm. I didn't get a slip of paper at any of the Tim's I stopped at on the way through the maritimes, but we weren't anywhere that it was particularly crowded, either.

We stopped at a Tim's last week or so and didn't get a slip. Maybe it depends on how busy the place is - we were there in the evening and it was mostly dead.
