I am an idiot.

I know for a fact that in order to function properly I need a minimum of seven hours of sleep a night, preferably eight, and even better if it's nine. What have I been doing all week? Watching too many DVDs, and cutting into my sleeping time.

I have no excuse. I am thirty years old, and I know better.

I overslept this morning and was nearly late to work. It's sheer, unadulterated stupidity, and I have no one to blame but myself.

I went to Hurley's last night, where I was joined by the usual suspects. [livejournal.com profile] sorceror brought a copy of the Eye of Argon, which we then read aloud. Well, the first few pages, anyway. Hilarity ensued, but most of us were tired and headed home before we were able to finish it.

Tonight, come hell or high water, I am going to bed early. I will resist the lure of television. Yes.

Shoot your television. Seriously.

But keep your computer. I watched Stonehenge Decoded on the laptop last night. :)

It won't help. I don't have any channels on my TV, it's all DVDs. So if I keep the computer, I could watch them just as easily, and I would still have all my current problems.

No, no. It's just a question of discipline.

So, let me get this straight: you're giving yourself a big, fat guilt trip, not because you overslept and were late for work, but because you were *almost* late for work?

Anyone else out there confused?

Honey, I cancelled my classes yesterday because my midterm grades were due and I was behind in my marking; *that's* the sort of stuff one *could* feel guilty about if one so chose. (I chose to not feel guilty, because I was taking the day to do school work, after all, and because I have tenure, so bite me.) You're thirty now---choose your self-induced guilt trips wisely, my friend. Let yourself off the hook! ;)

It's not a guilt trip per se. Being late or nearly late for things really, but REALLY stresses me out. So I had a stressful morning and it's my own damned fault. I know better than this, and therefore ought to spare myself the extra stress in my life. :P

I leave 10 minutes later than I want to every morning, meaning that I stress over the quickest way to get to work.

If I stopped reading the internet 10 minutes earlier, I'd know the best and easiest way to get to work by 8am, and it'd be really pleasant (and less crowded!)

Yup. I have to be out of the house by a specific time if I want to catch the bus. Otherwise I have to run (or walk really quickly) to the metro, which means I get to work *right* on time rather than with a five to ten minute window.

Queen of elipses...

The interwebz are my fatal siren. But if it weren't for the interwebz it would be TV too. I conquered that demon for awhile then moved in with someone who sneakily added cable into my life :(

I've been also trying to do something about this. Turning the lost hours into something productive, or at least...not wasted on click...click...click...click...

I love my interwebz friends, but I can't sit like a snoopy in the mailbox waiting for the next communique... blargh.

Electronic resistors unite... umm... well... you get the idea...

I hear you. I love the internet, but it's such a time-sink it's not even funny...
