So in spite of my mother's absolute certainty that my mild cold was in fact really the H1N1/swine flu, I find myself pretty much recovered, as of yesterday.

I am always amused by my parents' hypochondria when it comes to my own health. They themselves come from the "Eh, I'll walk it off," school of doctoring, but the minute I have a sniffle or a paper cut, they're *thisclose* to calling the paramedics.

In other news, work is crazy. I've been trying to post this for about 30 minutes now. Time to quit while I'm ahead.

The hypochondria by proxy will seem WAY less funny when you have your own kids. ;)

It might have been H1N1 anyway, though, you know. Most people do get over it in a couple of days. Anyway, the amount of rhubarb you wrangled while sick could probably have cured anything. :-p

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a cold. Sore throat, minor congestion, and no fever. Doesn't sound like the flu to me.

I do know intellectually that parents automatically worry about their kids, but right now it seems pretty hilarious. I remember once getting a small rash on my arm when I was about fifteen, right around the time Lucien Bouchard lost his leg, and my father *freaked* out. It took all my powers of persuasion to convince him that no, it wasn't flesh-eating bacteria. :P

I'm glad to read that you are feeling better. Me too.

Really? I thought it wasn't that unusual... 4-5 days with a cold is about standard for me.

I was taught that colds last a week to 10 days. But, I googled and found an article that stated, "Colds usually last three to four days, but can hang around for 10 days to two weeks." So, I guess you are right.

Now I wonder what I had. It doesn't really match flu or cold symptoms. I didn't have all of them and had about equal amounts from each column. It sounds slightly more like flu, but my temperature never made it up to 37.0 (normal).
