Okay, so apart from being pretty frustrated with the end of BSG, can someone explain to me how, in a fleet of ships rapidly running out of resources and limping their way toward the end of civilization, all the characters seem able to take half-hour showers? With hot running water?

I mean, come on! Radioactive pigeons and swing sets in the middle of the forest are one thing, but showers? On a space ship? That's a little hard to take.

I know that it's a standard trope in TV and movies nowadays to have shower scenes to portray the vulnerability of characters, but give me a break. If the writers had taken thirty seconds to think about it, they'd realize it was pretty weak.

We live in a spaceship, dear.

Their spaceship is way smaller and is supposedly running out of all resources. They can't afford to waste water the way we do. :P

No, love. The ENTIRE concept is implausible. Not just the water.

FTL tavel? CYLONS?

I don't mind suspending my disbelief for science fiction, so long as things are internally consistent. This is *not*.

Assuming it's wasted, and they don't have an aggressive and efficient water recycling program.

I'm assuming it is wasted, or at least partly wasted, since the ship is supposedly falling apart at the seams (they keep going on and on about it) and they ration everything. I can't believe that a ship that can't keep itself afloat, metaphorically speaking, can nonetheless boast an aggressive and efficient water recycling system.

water is probably recycled and is from the coolant or air-conditioning tanks.

Also, the only people that seem to take showers are officers. Likely it's a perk of command and the Baltars and chiefs are unwashed.

I gave up before the final episode and after I heard the spoilers, I figured why bother.

Oh, please. It's not to show the vulnerability of the characters. It's to slip us some skin.

I am too peeved about the ending of BSG to call myself a fan anymore. Shame on them!

The writers for the last season really fouled up. Same thing happened to Buffy. Grrr, ptui.

I'm watching True Blood now, though I didn't mean to.

You say that as though you've never camped near a swing set in the middle of the woods (ok, so I'll admit that there was a road right near it, and a campground just across said road, but I'm going to stick to my position that the public park in Crawford Bay BC was still quite "middle of the forest").
