Very nice. My peak of famous-author-closeness so far has been being a guest at Nalo Hopkinson's wedding-of-sorts (closer perhaps, but also less famous).Alternately, my stepdaughter's father is also a sufficiently accomplished author that he was able to quit his day job a couple of years ago, but he's not particularly famous, and he doesn't write SF either so...

Yeah, apart from this my only real claim-to-literary-fame is having partaken of a scotch at a friend's wedding with Mordecai Richler, with whom I had a passing acquaintance for most of my life. I was *much* younger than him, obviously, but that last time (about a year before he died) I was old enough to drink and therefore he actually noticed that I existed and we had a chat about books and writing.

This WorldCon I spoke to more authors than I have in my entire life put together, I think. ;)
