That's what I always hear from anyone who's taken on blankets, which has kept me away from those. Although I can sympathize, having done scarves that seemed to go to China.
Oh yeah, because there aren't any parts of a sock that seem to go on forever. Nope. Nuh-uh. Never.
(Well, if you discount the ribbing, leg, and foot sections.)
This part of the project us called the "black hole". You knit and knit and knit and it doesn't get any longer. (Much like the Skein that Would Not End on Saturday evening...)
I was knitting an eyelash yarn "collar" for Queen Dog when boom, I went into the hospital in January, 2005.
I started working on it again and boom, she died in October.
I decided to challenge Fate and started working on this again a few months ago. No one has died this time (yet), but of course, it is no longer a feminine collar for a dog who doesn't exist. It's a hood for me, and I knit, and I knit, and I knit, and it never gets any longer.

Like your blankie.
Easy, Once...

So I hear.
I can barely knit. Crochet is beyond me.
