Umm... my lone snail appears to have reproduced.
You may remember a few weeks ago my mini-saga with the goldfish? I decided not to get anymore fish, as their dying off repeatedly was just depressing me. So I've been waiting for the other shoe to drop, i.e. for the snail to kick the bucket.
Not only is he thriving (or she, or it, or zie, I guess, since it's hermaphroditic), but it seems to have managed to reproduce all on its own. There's a wee baby snail zipping around the aquarium now.
I am flummoxed.
See, I know enough about snails to know that they're hermaphroditic and that they lay eggs to reproduce. That means it takes two to tango, right? I saw no eggs, and there's only *one* new snail. I mean, I can conceive that maybe Fangio (that's my snail's name) did some frolicking with the other snails back at the pet shop, but if that's the case how come there were no eggs here?
I'm just perplexed now. o_O
