Dear Canada Post,

Please to not be leaving my valuable Lee Valley shipment on my doorstep when I'm not home. You are supposed to take the package back to the post office and leave a notice in my mailbox. Same goes for my Amazon orders.

What you are doing now leaves my stuff vulnerable to being stolen by people passing by on the street, and I do believe that it violates a couple of federal statutes.

So, please, next time, do your freaking job.

No love,

Me

He's a US NFA Class III firearms dealer. His stories of AK-47's left on his porch by UPS and Uzis falling out of parcels addressed to him at the post office are terrifying.

O_O

That *is* terrifying...

They're only supposed to leave a parcel if they can put it in a secure/non-visible location (like tucked inside a screen door, for example). But I imagine they get grief from people who want their parcel, and are angry that they have to wait a whole day and go all the way to the post office to pick their parcel up.

Actually, I wonder if you can't call their 1-800 number and have it set so that anything that lands on your doorstep when you're not home automatically goes to the local PO.

There is nothing secure or non-visible about a 1-foot square parcel lying on my doormat. :P

I will call the 1-800 number when I get a chance and see about setting that up. I really don't care about waiting an extra day or so if it means I won't be out forty to a hundred dollars' worth of stuff.

Note to Canada Post:

I guess you don't know she works for the RCMP?

Messing with Phnee = VERY BAD IDEA!

Hee!

Sadly I can't send my boys out to rough 'em up, tempting as it might be...

Well, hey, thinking about it might inspire fic or something, right?

Good outlet for anger, etc. =D

I think you might be covered if it goes missing but yeah, I hear you. Our mail is *constantly* on the porch and once it was a box of cheques.

Seriously. Sometimes our mail carrier leaves envelopes on the doorstep, when our mail slot is right there!

Probably a new driver. The old guy was really good about putting flat things between the two doors and leaving the "While you were out" notice for anything bigger.

In the neighborhood my aunt lives in in Germany, if you are not home, they deliver the package to your neighbour's house, and leave a notice at your house to go to your neighbour's. ;)

They did that in the UK when I was living there, as well.

There's CRIME in Canada? Seriously?

Oh, sure, but then the criminals usually feel so bad that they turn themselves in, make restitution, and apologize profusely to the victims. :P

You reminded me of the rookie cop who shot a guy and then apologized and was crying.
