Technology hates me.

I was happily watching the X-Files on DVD, and then got up to answer the phone. When I got back, the DVD player was stuck on closed captioning. I cannot for the LIFE of me figure out how to get it back to where it was before. I have reset the options in the menu, fussed with the remote, and not even when I RTFM did I find the answer I was looking for.

Naturally, tech support is only open Mon-Fri, normal business hours, when *everyone* watches TV. People never ever watch DVDs on the weekend or in the evening, nossir.

Frustrated cat is frustrated.

Anyone know how to reset a Pioneer DV-185 so that it doesn't think I'm deaf?

I fixed it. Don't ask me how. I unplugged everything, and then stuck a DVD of "Slings & Arrows" into the machine, and it appears to have spontaneously regenerated. I think Paul Gross frightened it.

Yup. Been there, found the incredibly unhelpful manual, done that.

So frustrated, I cannot tell you. There are no words. All I wanted was a quiet evening with X-Files, my knitting, and maybe my new popcorn machine. But noooo.
