Consistency, consistency, consistency
Jan. 7th, 2009 09:25 amI've written more in the past week than I did all last year combined, I think. I am still about a day behind in my resolution to catch up on my serial writing, but with any luck I will catch up on that delay today.
I took a chance and brought my laptop to work. I'm going to be working on stuff at Hurley's tonight, and if my luck holds out the computer will recognize the power supply when I get home.
I am enjoying getting back into the swing of things. The writing muscle is still there, it's just that I'm having a bit of difficulty remaining consistent with the writing. One day I'll be able to churn out 3,000 words with no problem, and on another day I'll barely get 100 words on paper (or the screen, as the case may be). It depends largely on how much time I have to devote to the writing as well: the busier my day is, the less energy I have to sit down and write. I've also found that I don't write as much or as well if I do it in the late evening: all my energy is gone by then, and I have to stick to writing fluff in my LJ.
Ideally, I'd like to get back to the place where I was in February of 2006, where I was sometimes hitting easily 5,000 words a day, and usually a minimum of 1-2,000. It was a fun time, and I really enjoyed doing it. The stories were exciting to write, and I was looking forward to NaNoWriMo. I want that excitement back.
Anyway, news you need, clearly.
