mousme | Not-so-seekrit prodgikt

I am doing some knitting for myself, for the first time in, well, ever. I have decided to make myself a Hufflepuff scarf. Yes, yes, I know I'm supposed to be working on my list and making socks or mittens or a sweater or something, but I'm cheating and making myself a pretty scarf instead. :P

I found some lovely wool, the same brand as the one I used for

bodhifox's scarf except a slightly different weight and composition. It's very, very soft and pettable. I spent the day with

owldaughter and

toughlovemuse yesterday, and by the time I went to bed I had two squares knitted and a couple more rows of the black.

I will be taking it to work with me tonight (please, please let it be quiet at work!) and over the weekend. With any luck, I'll have it done in about a week or so.

I have been puttering all morning, doing some tidying, and all that's left now is the kitchen, which unfortunately looks as though a bomb went off in it. I'm not even sure how that's possible, as there isn't all that much stuff out. It just looks messy. Maybe I'm getting to be more intolerant of small messes now that I've had a taste of what it's like to live in a clean and orderly home for more than a week or so at a time. There are piles of paper and stuff, too, which are getting on my nerves, but which I won't have the time (and currently don't have the energy) to deal with for a while yet. Papers always make things look messy, I don't know why that is.

I need to go grocery shopping today, too, before I go to work. I have stuff here, but

joane and

shenlo are coming for brunch tomorrow with the Bean in tow, and I'd like to have a bit more by way of stuff to feed them, especially the Bean. I don't have any juice in the house, for one thing (wait, no, I do have some, but it's not much: I'm not much of a juice drinker), nor do I really have anything I can make for dinner... okay, that's not true either, I have food... well, I still need to get cream for the coffee and a few other small things. Anyway, yeah. Grocery shopping is good. I hope my IGA is open today.

Okay. I have 30 minutes before the cleaning lady gets here. I'm still not sure if she's coming, isn't that ironic?. If it turns out she's not coming, well, at least the place will be that much tidier, and I'll just do a quicker cleaning job than would otherwise have happened. Outside motivation is apparently a huge factor for me in getting my home clean. You'd think I would have learned to do things for myself, because they make me feel good about myself, but when it comes to cleaning I still have to resort to peer pressure in order to get anything done.
