Shave to Save: incentives and price tags

Good morning friends!
Since no one, and I repeat, no one replied to my poll about extra incentives to contribute to my fundraiser, I am arbitrarily and unilaterally attributing price tags to my services.
I am setting a minimum of $20 for everything, and some might cost you more. Serves you right for not filling out the poll. ;)
Baked goods (muffins, cookies, banana bread, etc.)
If you are not local, it will likely have to be cookies
$20
For a home-cooked supper with friends
Local friends only, sadly. I don't have the time or leisure or money to travel all the way to you in order to cook for you. ;)
Date: October 31st, or else some time in November
$50 (modified at the suggestion of someone whose judgment I trust)
For a small hand-made craft (Bookmark, etc.)
$20 minimum (may be more depending on the complexity of the item)
For a short(ish) poem
$20
For a drabble of fiction or fanfic (100+ words)
$20
For a short piece of fiction or fanfiction? (1000+ words)
$30
For a new instalment of my serials (1500+ words)
$50 (modified at the suggestion of someone whose judgment I trust)
For a custom fiction/fanfiction request
$30 (it will go up by increments of $10 depending on the complexity and length of the request)
For something else?
$20 minimum

And I agree with GMarc, you're doing enough and I wouldn't ask you for anything more.
Well. I'm lying. If the distances were right, I'd be buyin' that dinner from you this|quick.

Date: 2008-09-24 02:51 pm (UTC)I think it's really amazing that you want to reward people for donating, but from my perspective, all of us are donating in some way through you. I suspect that I am not the only one who holds this view since nobody answered- I probably should have said something in the last post, but I didn't want to put a damper on your enthusiasm. And the point is donating- to give up something with no expecation of anything in return (except for a tax return, but passing some of the cost to the government doesn't count).
In my mind, I am not "buying" a share in your campaign- I am helping you succeed, and helping you cross that line is reward enough.
Raising the minimum amount is already enough of a task in itself. I don't think I'm alone when I say that I don't think you need to one-up yourself by commiting to a gift. Doing this already exceptional in itself.
And the other thing is that you might find yourself having to commit to 100 people or so after the tally is in. I'm sure you can handle the added commitment, but the poit is you shouldn't have to.
Having said that, if you feel a gift is appropriate, then don't hold back, but most of us will be happy with a personal thank you note (or even an email). Making cookies or something that you can do in bulk might be appropriate for the higher end donations- but as I said above, you are already doing something exceptional here. You don't need to up the ante. I think you should be content with "just" being incredibly awesome for "just" doing this task.
I hope you don't take this as me criticising your enthusiasm. I am glad to see you so excited about this.
Marc

Date: 2008-09-24 03:03 pm (UTC)Most of my friends are not requesting anything of me, which is super. They pretty much seem to be in agreement with you on that subject. It was suggested to me that I might be able to get a few more people on board by offering a little something extra.
I don't take it at all as criticism. :)
