Musings of a corporate drone-in-training
Mar. 14th, 2002 09:36 pmWork keeps getting better. Still not the intellectual challenge I'm used to at university, but a nice change of pace from the last four years of studying literary theory. I'm actually enjoying this a lot more than I first suspected, and I think that in a few months' time this job will actually be pretty kickass, as jobs go. I'm quite pleased.
I think I'll start planning to climb the corporate ladder. I like planning, Bell is a good, stable company with lots of benefits, so it all kind of works in a "selling your soul to the corporate devil" kind of way.
Had dinner with Firewillow and brought her up to date on all the goingson in my life, including the budding romance with Poms. She teased me mercilessly, of course. Apparently RDE was worried I'd eloped and was, in his words, "necking somewhere with a biker named Thor." Of course, Firewillow *would* go and say to me that she knew that if any necking was to occur, it wouldn't be with Thor... Then I pointed out that I don't think Poms is any more experienced at that than I am.
*grin*
I got this silly mental picture of the two of us trying to figure out how to go about this, just standing there facing each other, grinning stupidly. Then one of us would say something along the lines of, "Right, well, I suppose one of us should do something about this," and the other would reply "Of course. We're both reasonably educated people, I'm sure we can figure this out somehow," whereupon the first would counter "If only there was some kind of established procedure for this kind of thing..." and so forth. Two shy bookish types on a streetcorner...
The thought was amusing while it lasted, anyway.
Going out with him tomorrow. We haven't decided on a restaurant, but I'm sure we can find a decent place near his appartment, where we're convening, as it's right next to the bus stop at which I get off after work. Makes more sense.
I'm quite excited about this. I guess it would be our first official "date," since the last one wasn't really defined in advance. Kewl. :)
