May. 25th, 2008 08:53 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I've decided that I don't have enough stuff to do with all the oodles of spare time I have. So, starting June 1st, 2008, I am going to attempt to do 101 things in 1001 days. That's 101 goals to reach within about 2.75 years.
Here's the description from the website that started it all:
The Mission:
Complete 101 preset tasks in a period of 1001 days.
The Criteria:
Tasks must be specific (ie. no ambiguity in the wording) with a result that is either measurable or clearly defined. Tasks must also be realistic and stretching (ie. represent some amount of work on my part).
My end date will be Sunday, February 27th, 2011.
Things accomplished will be struck through. Things in progress will be in italics. So, for posterity, here's my list:

Oops..
Date: 2008-05-26 02:11 am (UTC)Sounds like you're planning a real adventure for yourself. Good luck!
Re: Oops..
Date: 2008-05-26 02:14 am (UTC)Re: Oops..
Date: 2008-05-26 02:16 am (UTC)Some of those projects look really ambitious, not to mention interesting!
Re: Oops..
Date: 2008-05-26 02:21 am (UTC)The idea was to list things that are doable, but that will require me to push my boundaries a bit. The problem is that I apparently ran out of imagination after 51 things. ;)
See, I don't want to just put in a goal (like, I dunno, "climb a mountain") just because it looks cool. I want it to be personally relevant to me, and help me to learn something that will make me a better person all-around. Climbing a mountain is a worthy goal, to continue with my example, but it's not something that I personally really want to achieve right now.
I'm curious (like that's news)

Date: 2008-05-26 02:24 am (UTC)I'm going to try and learn SQL while I'm playing with it, and use it to post my writing, when I get back to it.

Date: 2008-05-26 06:08 pm (UTC)nothing on tanning and leathercraft? make a knife eather from metal removal or flint napping. carve something, maybe like a figureine or a flute. make a pair of shoes. learn to spin wool. start fruit trees in containers, like pole apples or maybe tophat blueberrys. aquire a grain mill so you can make your own flour and cornmeal. learn to reload ammo for the new weapon. develope a foolproof plot for world domination.

Date: 2008-05-27 03:36 am (UTC)Actually, I really like the idea of starting fruit trees in containers. Got any resources on that I could read?
I have no ambition to dominate the world: I can't even keep my apartment tidy. ;)

If you ever need help for #64, let me know. We're using SQL daily now at work for our data warehousing and we develop our apps with it (in part).

Date: 2008-05-27 03:41 am (UTC)I will definitely take you up on the SQL offer at some point. :)

Date: 2008-05-27 08:23 pm (UTC)I like the idea of an emergency preparedness kit. I was just talking about that the other day, so it's an obvious oversight on my part not to have included it.
Also, you are a sweetie: I am plenty loved, and never averse to being loved more. :D
