I totally forgot that I was planning on starting a potted-herbs garden this year. I shall have to remedy that either next week or the following week, depending on how sleep-deprived I am. [livejournal.com profile] ai731 has already planted a bunch in the garden, but I'd like to try my hand at some on my own, as well.

One thing I've noticed about working night shift is that I no longer have the option of having a drink at the end of the day when I get home, since it's, like, 07:30. I almost never drink when I get home at the end of the day anyway (maybe once or twice a year), but I resent not having the option. It also means I can't have a drink in the evening, since I have to go to work shortly thereafter. So, night shift means a lifestyle free of booze for the most part.

Y'know, 'cause I drink so much to begin with.

I heard of some town that tried to make it illegal for bars to be open between like 2 am and noon. All the people that worked night shift threw a fit (and rightly so) and the law never passed. So drink away.

Heh. It feels wrong to be drinking at that hour of the morning though, no matter how many times I tell myself that it's Happy Hour *somewhere* in the world. ;)

Bars in Montreal are closed between 3am and 8am, I believe. I know they close at 3am, I'm just fuzzy on when they re-open (see above: it feels wrong for me to drink that early).

You can drink when you get home. There are no laws that say you can't drink at 0730 (I mean, I suppose there aren't. I don't really know about Canada and the latest--earliest?--I drank was 0500.)

Besides, it's 5 o'clock somewhere. :D

You're up late! Or is it early? :)

Like I was telling [livejournal.com profile] chasingthenuns, it still feels kinda wrong to me to start drinking that early. If I started the night before, then maybe *continuing* to drink wouldn't be so bad...

I remember drinking with you until 5am. Yikes! I have rarely been so drunk in my entire life. Good times, though. We really need to get together again. It looks like I'll be heading in the direction of Ohio with [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave around Labour Day: any chance you could meet up with us?

I worked til 2300 and ever since I had to work til 0300 two nights in a row last week, I can't seem to make myself go to bed early (and I'm pretty sure they'll be calling me in early tomorrow, too. Blech.)

I'll have to check to see if the time is available for me to take off. I'm off the actual holiday, but I would need driving time, too. I'll have to look at the calendar when I go to work tomorrow. What days specifically will you be there?

Uh, no idea exactly, I haven't discussed it with [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave to find out when he's free. I'm on vacation starting August 25th and ending September 5th, so presumably anytime between the 26th and the 4th (factoring in travel time and all).

I will consult with [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave ASAP. It would be awesome to get a bunch of us together. :)

Considering all my ancestors had ale for breakfast, it doesn't bother me that I always have a beer when I get home at 04:00, because damnit, it's the end of the evening for me. That's why bars open at 05:30, for the 3rd shift coming off work.

Well, I looked at the calendar and the two weeks around Labor Day are, amazingly, available. However, I need to put in for whatever days off soon before someone else snatches them up (we can only have two off per day.)
