Depending on the state of my finances when I check them tonight, I think I shall finally invest in a digital camera tomorrow. I have wanted one for three years now, possibly more, and since the overtime fairy will be paying me a visit next week, I think I can finally afford one. I won't feel guilty about it, either, because it will be well-loved and much-used.

That way I shall be able to document the vermicomposting process in loving detail, as well as any future project I choose to bore you with write about.

We shall see...

Digital cameras are good! Can you add me, please? :)

Umm, maybe? No offense intended, but I don't recognize your username or anything. Do I know you from somewhere?

I found this journal through looking for Monty Python fans. :)

Ah! Well, welcome. I don't really discuss Monty Python much, though. I just happen to like their stuff. :)

It's still all good. :)

The vermis will be MOVIE STARS! They will have to deal with the paparazzi flashing cameras at them as they go about their daily business.

Wow, I'm tired.

Remind me to tell you about the very twee girl from the eco-quartier I spoke to on Tuesday.

"Yeah, so here's the newspaper, and under that there's the soil with, like, all the worms in it. They hang out down there..."

Hang out. Yes; that is obviously their job description. And they obtain such a feeling of reward and fulfilment from it, no doubt.

I am going to read in bed until I fall over asleep.

Have fun!

When she told me the office worms were mostly fed on coffee grounds, I had a field day: I kept imagining tons of tiny, hyper little worms building cubicles and rushing around hiring and firing each other. ;)

LOL!

Thank you for the visual. Now I too am envisioning hyper worms.

Two things to keep in mind when buying a digital:

1) the memory cards included are always pathetically small, so you'll want to buy a larger card as soon as you can. (Until then, you can set the camera for relatively low resolution, and thus fit more pics on the card.)

2) NiMH (nickle-metal hydride) rechargeable batteries + a recharger = very good idea. They'll take a ton more photos than your standard batts, and save the environment too.

Have fun!

Many thanks! I shall keep all this in mind when I go. :)

I agree with this. I bought a 512MB card and a spare rechargeable battery with mine when I got it. I think the card was about $25US or something like that, but this was a year ago so they're probably cheaper now. The rechargeable battery was a bit less, about £15US or so.

Not for Phnee on the memory card

Future shop is currently selling them for cheap (39 bucks for 1gig, 50 bucks for 2gig). I just picked up a 1 gig for my PDA.

They MAY be cheaper elsewhere, I haven't really looked much more than casually.

I will also second the comment on the NiMH batteries and charger combo...absolutely essential if your Cam uses regular AA batteries.

i understand fully the fascination for digital cameras but i am old fashioned and i stick to my old CANON AL1 and my photo paper.

I like going through photo albums which is not something you do systematically with digital photos because the photos are on your hard drive, the feeling is different.

If you have a nice memory card, you can do like 500 photos or even more, that's unbelievable and it's true !

Take care
