Karaoke and other random work stuff
Sep. 15th, 2005 02:34 pmSo it's Employee Week at the National Bank. That meant that my lunch hour was disrupted by really bad karaoke in half of the cafeteria. I often wonder if there's any such thing as good karaoke, but I suppose there must be, if I'm to take
drood's entries on the matter seriously.
Everyone in the department is gone except me. They have an afternoon of activities planned, which, as I understand it, involves driving around in a limo to the various sites the department has financed, and then onto a cooking lesson somewhere, after which they will eat the dinner they've just cooked.
I wasn't told any of this until, oh, about three hours ago. It's a good thing I eavesdrop on conversations (the ones that happen five feet from my desk, that is, since I can't really hear much further than that), otherwise I would never have known that I was meant to hold down the fort here while they were all away. Boss!Lady was very contrite when she remembered she hadn't told me. But then, she's always contrite whenever I remind her that she hasn't hired me, too. Not that I'm bitter. :P
Actually, I'm not altogether disappointed I'm not going. It means I don't have to spend seven or so hours in the close proximity of people whom I only like on a professional basis. Also, I have plans tonight, which I would have had to cancel had I been invited to this.
It also means that I have the entire office to myself for the afternoon. Whee! :::throws a party:::

Date: 2005-09-15 09:49 pm (UTC)As for your work situation... grf. I hate being intentionally 'left out of the loop'.
On the bright side, at least you DO get the office to yourself. =)
