My instincts are telling me to go one way with my life, and my intellect is telling me to go another way. My instincts are pulling really strongly in one direction, while my intellect tells me that I'm crazy,

Generally speaking, when I'm stable, my instincts have never let me down.

I've learned the hard way to trust my instincts and assume if my intellect doesn't agree that my intellect is wrong. Pain is a really good teacher.
