Okay, there was the pork triumph (although it was kinda tough —probably why they had it on sale), but there were other small frustrations at the grocery store.

What self-respecting grocery store in Québec doesn't have lentils, I ask you? Hello? This is the province which made lentil soup famous! (Okay, maybe not, but still... it's a staple)

Also, Dear Local IGA, you get no love from me, because you had nothing remotely resembling flanken. Sheesh. Even if I wasn't going to get any today, you'd think that ribs would be available at some point. :P

Feh.

Will have to go look elsewhere for those things.

I do have lots of chicken though. It, too, was on sale. I shall be making casserole later on this week. Tomorrow or Tuesday at latest.

Rock on.

:::ETA:::

Ketchup has to be one of the world's best condiments. And no, I didn't put it on my pork, if that's what you were wondering. ;)

I am having Scary Leftist Pinko Commie Ketchup™, too, and enjoying every bite. ;)

If you feel like perusing my cookbook collection at any point, you're welcome to do so! I rarely use them myself since Adam is a "cook according to inspiration and what's in the fridge" kind of person and I am like that a bit too, but still I have my old favourites that I know by heart...

I also have a box of recipes I got from people as a bridal shower gift, and there are some easy and deelish recipes in there (there's one for steak in a cream sauce that's super easy and to die for... I recommend that one); my mom has been cooking for Adam and me since the baby arrived and she will be emailing me the recipes for the things I like in what she prepared. I can forward those to you as well.

And what's great about casserole dishes is that you can freeze individual portions for times when you don't feel like cooking! Just cook for 4 or 6 and freeze leftovers. :)

Oh yeah, I've got oodles of cookbooks you can leaf through, too. And I also hate the IGA, so maybe we can coordinate shopping and get better deals on things?

I'm all for coordinating to avoid the evils of the IGA. Atwater Market isn't far from where I live, so that could be arranged.

Cookbooks will be my good friends for a while until I'm comfortable with a solid core of recipes that I like.

Sounds like a good plan. But Atwater market is pretty crazy expensive.

Is it?

Damn. It used to be the cheap place to go. Am so behind the times.

It has gotten pricey. But as I discovered on Saturday, there is now a Super C tucked beside it.

Super C has lentils. Not that you need them anymore since I am giving you many.
