... to have someone on your friends list echo almost exactly what you're thinking, especially when they're a new addition to your flist and presumably have no idea that you're thinking what you're thinking.

Or so I hope.

Seriously, it's very scary how several of your entries have reflected things going on inside my brain. This, for instance.


In other, but vaguely related news, I need to do something meaningful with my life. The older I get, the more I get the impression that there's this huge sucking void of meaning out there, that in place of spiritual significance there's this vortex of mindless consumerism that's eating itself and threatening to pull me, and perhaps all of us, in.

I spend far too much time focussed on myself. I spend far too much time second-guessing myself. Right now I think I have to stop caring about whether or not I'm running away from my problems, and maybe focus on something outside myself for a while.

I just need somewhere to focus my attention, other than my very conflicted and sorry self. I've done enough feeling sorry for myself to last several lifetimes, and it shows no sign of letting up. :P

Except that I'm not an especially holy person. I think volunteering somewhere is probably a good place to start.
