When your parents solicitously ask you how you're feeling? They can tell you're depressed, but they don't really want to know.

I hate playing this game. It's the "you-never-tell-me-anything-but-whenever-you-say-something-I-stop-listening" game.

If I tell them I'm depressed, they don't want to hear it. It's not that they're not concerned, and it's not that they don't love me. They just find it too painful to listen.

So I don't tell them.

But I'm not especially good at hiding things, so they can tell that I'm not telling them something, so they get their feelings all hurt because I'm not confiding in them.

*kicks wall*

Frikking Catch-22.

I really wish these meds would work the other way, too. They keep me from being hypomanic, but they don't seem to be able to prevent the depression from creeping back every now and again.

Why is mania so much easier to prevent? It's so much more fun than the depression. I could use some abnormally high spirits right about now...

I don't know... tell them that they won't want to hear it? Or just get better at hiding it, I guess. :(

I totally understand about the mania/depression thing. My meds prevent me from getting manic, but they still don't seem to do jack shit about my depressive episodes.

And mania is much more fun- while others say that it can be dangerous (which I admit is true), there are some days where I would give anything to be just a little manic.

Well, it might just be that the med/s that you're on happen to work better on the imbalance that causes mania. Perhaps you might have to go on a meds combo (you're only on the single drug aren't you?) or try another drug.

Incidentally, I was just having a squizz around and most pages about depression mention that thyroid imbalance might contribute to the severity of depressive episodes. Have you had that sort of thing checked out?

*shoves Practical!Dan out of the way*

*sighs* Have I mentioned that you're parents need a smack upside the head lately? I'm sure they're lovely people in their own way, but they still need slapping for how they behave around you sometimes.

*hugs Phnee tightly*

Hang in there sweets.
