I know what the words mean, but I can't make this sentence make sense:

"Indeed, the implicit corollary of professional was apolitical."

F*cked if I know what it means. *beats head on desk* To me it looks like it's missing a word, but I could be wrong.

Kay? Anyone? Help?

OK, I'd render it thus:

"There was, indeed, an assumption that professional behaviour was also necessarily apolitical behaviour."

Or:

"There was, indeed, an assumption that it was not possible to be a political creature if one wished to be seen as a professional."

Okay, I can work with that. Naturally you had no context to work with, so the result is a wee bit flawed (the author was talking about a body of professionals and not an individual), but you cleared it up nicely for me. :)
