Inspiration for the artless
May. 15th, 2003 07:09 pmIt's on days like these that I wish I had more artistic capabilities than I do.
I got a beautiful parcel from Abi in the mail, and now the little package I was preparing for her seems sad and small and inadequate.
She made me a small diary, only about two inches by four inches, with a German inscription I can't read because the writing is somewhat cramped and black-and-white images of leaves, and a quotation from Pablo Neruda that just about made my brain melt.
I'm still going to make my sad little package, in the hopes that she'll appreciate the spirit in which it was made and overlook its physical imperfections.
Still, it's nice to have finally met someone who's inspired me to start creating again. It had been far too long since I'd tried anything *truly* creative. The last time I'd attempted it, my efforts were received without comment, which kind of dampened my spirits, to say the least.
Hey, haven't seen you in awhile
And say, I miss your little smile
Have I told you, that I loved you in awhile
And I wish I was back home with you again
Hey, it's not long until we get home
And say, you know I hate to drink alone
Did I tell you, you send shivers through my bones
And I wish I was back home with you again
As the smoke curls in the air and the gargles are everywhere
I wish I was back home with you again
As I'm laying on the floor, and my guts are feeling sore
I wish I was back home with you again
As I drink the last bottle of wine, thinking of you all the time
I wish I was back home, I wish I was back home
I wish I was back home with you again
