So early on Saturday morning I turned to Hottie!Coworker who was working night shift with me and said "Hey, it's officially D-Day. It's been 65 years, after all.

Her reaction?

"What's D-Day?"

I just about fell over. Even when I explained about the Normandy Landings she shrugged it off with a laugh and said she doesn't know anything about that sort of thing. She's 33 years old, so it's not an age thing.

I'm... honestly shocked. Yes, it's history, but it's still in living memory. How is it that so many of my generation are so ignorant?

I'm watching the finale of the second season of The Pretender. Naturally, I am weeping buckets, just like the last time, and all the times I've watched it before.

It's the loss of memory/identity thing. I don't know why, but it destroys me. I can't take that sort of plotline. It's what made poor [livejournal.com profile] tcaptain and [livejournal.com profile] maya_banana worry a bit about how hard I was crying during WALL*E last year. Emotional wreck doesn't even begin to cover it.

Why on earth do I do this to myself? :P
