Firefox tells me I have already used this title for a previous entry. Who says I need to be original every day?

It seems patently unfair that on the two days I have off this week, that I have to get up early on both occasions. Ah well. At least I'm going to get a lot of stuff done. Today will be mostly a nesting day, I think. I'm awaiting delivery of my chest freezer (yay!) and the floor guys are supposed to be here in about 20 minutes, and their work is going to take at least a couple of hours.

So I've put on for coffee, and realized to some minor dismay that I have no oatmeal at home: I keep my stash at work, since I'm there most of the time. *sigh* I may have eggs or something, although what I really wanted was oatmeal. Nothing like having a cold to make one want comfort food. Oh well.

Today will be spent waiting for various people, and while I wait I am going to do some unpacking and general nesting, as I said. I have a new floor lamp to set up ($16 at Ikea! How could I resist?), and a mirror to install in the bathroom. I should also eventually get a full-length mirror, but that day has not yet come. I have no idea where I'd put it, for one thing.

The bookcases are still not fully set up. I have umpteen boxes of books still left to unpack and sort through, but I'd like it to all be done by the end of the day. I have guests coming tomorrow after all, and although I know they won't care if my place is piled floor to ceiling with stuff, I'd still like them to have a pleasant time not surrounded by boxes and random crap.

Today will also be the first day I'll have had time to do laundry in my brand new washing machine. I am very excited, and I hope that my father and I set it up properly last week, because if water starts spraying everywhere or something, I will be very upset.

The weather is officially cold enough that the cats wanted to come back in after less than ten minutes outside. Heh. Wusses.

I also still have a cabbage and ten pounds of beets, so if I have time I may make borscht. I also have to open up all my donation tins and count up the total for Shave to Save. Depending on when the freezer gets here and when the floor guys are done, I will likely pop over to the bank to deposit what's left of the money and write a cheque to the Breast Cancer Foundation. If there's time I'll deliver it today, but I suspect it will be more likely tomorrow.

:::ETA:::

The delivery guy just called to say he'll be here in 45 minutes. w00t!

:::/ETA:::

:::NEW ETA:::

I hate reno work. The floor guys are here, but it turns out that there's another potential snag. Or, rather, the way the last snag was fixed has caused a NEW potential snag. Don't you love the irony? I do. Anyway, Home Depot is going to give them the okay to go ahead and install the floor, and if it doesn't work then Home Depot takes responsibility for fixing whatever goes wrong later (if anything).

Gnarr. Will I ever be quit of this freaking mess?

:::/NEW ETA:::

So that's how my day is shaping up. Now I am going to have a quiet cup of coffee while waiting for my chest freezer, and hope that the floor guys don't come knocking on my door until they're finished.

w00t!

My chest freezer is here!

I am to let it sit for at least an hour and a half before plugging it in, but that's okay. Right now I don't have anything to put in it. This will change soon, but I must invest in freezer bags first.

*does a happy dance*

If only the floor problem was as easily solved.

*sigh*

I'm still waiting for a couple of donation tins, but here's my count of what I've raised in the past six weeks:

Yes, that's $2,668.96!

Go us!

Thank you to everyone who contributed and cheered me on and was generally awesome! We rock!

I got all my boxes unpacked today except one, which contains all my yarn. I count that as a success. My books are not sorted or properly put away, nor are my CDs, but I'm definitely one step closer, which is all to the good.

I rolled up all the money for my Shave to Save fundraiser, and meticulously copied out all the names of people who will be getting tax receipts for their donations. Tomorrow there will be a trip to the bank to deposit the money, and then another trip to the Québec Breast Cancer Foundation to give them a nice fat cheque.

I'm also going to the breakfast tomorrow hosted by Mix 96 at whatever that shopping mall is called in Pointe Claire (Fairview?), which starts stupidly early, but will force me to get an early start to my day, which is good. I have a TON of stuff to do tomorrow, including picking up and carving some jack-o'-lanterns

I did a load of laundry, and discovered that the cold water tap leaks. Gah. I tightened it as much as I could, and it still leaks. I'm going to pop over to Home Depot tomorrow (in my myriad amounts of spare time) and ask what I can do to fix this short of calling a plumber. I am all for letting the professionals do their thing, but I'm feeling a wee bit strapped for cash of late*, what with one thing and another.

I set up my second lamp, installed my mirror in the bathroom (which, strangely for Ikea, did not come with screws and such to attach it to the wall, which was most annoying) and made spaghetti sauce, which is currently simmering on the stove. I took out all the boxes but two to the shed, and will be bringing the other two shortly. I moved my table into the dining room, even though I haven't quite decided exactly where it's going to live until such time as I get a proper dining room set (see above: strapped for cash).

I also have to put away my clean clothes, as [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse and [livejournal.com profile] chibipunkdemon are coming to dinner. I rather hope the spaghetti sauce will be ready by the time they get here, but [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse has expressed an interest in heading to the Green Stop for dinner, which is also good, not expensive, and nearby.

I am really enjoying my days off at home. I'm getting stuff done and relaxing at the same time. Good stuff. :)

*I hasten to add that I am not hurting for money in any way. I just... don't want to spend any more than I already have on things that aren't, say, food or utilities.
