Day four of the Really Really Long Week
Sep. 28th, 2006 07:37 pmSo I'm still at the office. Probably will be until at least eight, maybe nine. I'm amazed that people call here after 5pm. Actual clients. Do these people think we never go home?
Oh, wait.
So, yeah. Tomorrow's my last day with the Paternal Unit'sboat car, so I'm taking advantage of the "extra" time I have here while I can. Next week it's back to public transit and relying on the kindness of
ashforestwalker, supposing he's survived this week which has turned out remarkably shitty for him and his loved ones.
This week, I think, will be written off by most of my friends as a "massive pile of suck."
It hasn't been a pile of suck for me, but let's face it, I've spent more time here this week than anywhere else. I've spent 49 hours in the office, and I'm nowhere near done. I caught up on a whole bunch of work today. Do you know what that means? The work I caught up on generated more work. No, the irony hasn't escaped me.
See, I finished up most if not all of my client call-backs. That means that I now have to create new leads for them, schedule them for appointments, and type up quotes as well. Then there are the handful of problem clients who never. stop. calling. I think I've spent an hour on them alone today. Grr.
I told Office!Boss today that this wasn't a job for one person. His response? "Oh, we know that, but it'll get better, I promise." Somehow, I'm not reassured. I don't know how he or Operations!Boss manage to pull such long hours so consistently. I certainly can't do it, and in theory I'm younger and more flexible.
I'm still loving it here, but I'm very, very tired now. I'm going to try and finish up as many quotes as I can tonight so that I don't have to stay late tomorrow.
Signing off.
