My cold is still here, but right now it's snivelling and whimpering in a corner, rather than kicking my ass. I went home and slept for a while yesterday, and that seems to have done for it. Here's hoping that it'll go away completely before this weekend's gig.

Band rehearsal went well. We're actually not panicking the way we were last time, and all of our songs are pretty much ready, with a little bit of tweaking still needed on some of them. Only one song, IMO, still needs a bit of work, but we'll be dealing with that on Saturday.

Okay, duty calls. Back to work.

Okay, here I am appealing to the research-types on my list again. :)

I'm trying to find some sort of documentation, or anecdotal evidence, or anything at all, about what life is like in the Montreal police force (SPVM, for those of you who want the acronym: website is here).

See, I'd like to know what the ratio of Anglophones to Francophones is, whether there's still any cultural/linguistic tensions on that front, what have you. Or, conversely, if there are new cultural and racial tensions, for that matter. Anything at all. There are roughly 42,000 police officers in Montreal, 25% of which are women, according to the official website.

However, the official website is unlikely to tell me the whole story. Also, it doesn't appear to provide the names of the various departments (they seem altogether too keen on extolling the virtues of their "police de quartier" program, which, while laudable, is really not something that interests me right now). Or anything about the hierarchy, or anything that could be remotely useful to me. Meh.

So, help?

Any information at all about the SPVM would help, really. Anything at all. :)
