I learned today that the drivers' supervisor lost his only daughter in a fire on Christmas day.

Her young son was very nearly with her, but luckily due to a delay in scheduling he was still with his father when the fire hit the apartment.

After news like that, and knowing what's happening in Asia and Iraq, it's very, very hard not to feel incredibly lucky and blessed to have had the kind of Christmas I did.

Meh...

Tonight I am succumbing to apathy. Nothing is going to happen except the reading of Ian Banks.

If I had alcohol in the apartment, it would be involved. Sadly, there is none.

I pondered the benefits of alcoholism the other day (cue sarcasm here), but decided against it. For one, the SAQ is on strike, limiting my access to stuff that isn't Molson and Labatt, and for two, alcohol is a bloody expensive addiction to have.

I don't feel like cooking, either. I'm going to see if there's something that involves less than two minutes of preparation in this place. I don't think there is, though.

Meh.

:::ETA:::

I was wrong. There are some nice re-heatable things in the fridge. Go me!
