Stayed out very late with nice girl. Nice girl seems to have a life which is kinda complicated, but hot diggity dang, she's cute. Am going to attempt the friend thing, because of the aforementioned complicatedness, which is pretty frikking vast.

Had wonderful time. :::beats head against wall in frustration::: Why must the cute, intelligent ones with interests similar to mine be thusly unavailable?!?

Gah.

We went to her apartment afterward and watched Blazing Saddles until 3am, and I made friends with her cats, and I got to meet her boyfriend. (Did I mention the massive complications?)

She's so damned nice, and articulate, and really, really attractive.

Really, it's enough to make anyone cynical. Or, as a variant on the old(ish) saying: the good ones are all taken or straight. :P

Not even sure if it's worth going to bed at this point.

On a random note, I have "Coffee" by Supersister stuck in my head. This wouldn't be so bad, except that it's a horrendously silly song. :D

To wit:

I like my men
Like I like my coffee
Hot, strong and sweet like toffee
Oh! So you know that I can’t let you go!

There are two things I really want to get before too long. The first is a futon frame, so that people can actually sit down when they come to my place.

The other is a digital camera, so that I can actually post up photos of teh ky00t when it happens around here. Granted, that's almost on a daily basis, but I'm sure that after a while I wouldn't spam my friends' list with k1tty pr0n too much.

I don't have the money for this right now, but thanks to my newfound organizational skills, I may actually be able to save up for these items in the next few months.

I'm all enthused because my apartment is still clean. Not sparkling and pristine, and I have to get more cat litter, but it's in a state where, with perhaps an hour's warning, I could have people over without feeling horribly ashamed of the state the place is in.

I am enjoying this tremendously. However, I need somewhere for people to sit.

Actually, I'm going to add a third object to my metaphorical wish list: a really neat rocking chair like the one [livejournal.com profile] sandman7 has in his living room. I am jealous of his comfy rocking chair.

The main issue is that I don't really have all that many places for people to sit if they come over. With the chair and the futon, that would definitely make the place more inviting and comfy.

For the next five weeks, NaNoWriMo is going to be one of my main focal points. After that, however, is Christmas, and then what [livejournal.com profile] sorceror has dubbed Capricornucopia, wherein he, [livejournal.com profile] miseri and I will be celebrating our birthdays in what we hope will be a memorable fashion.

My project for December will be getting back into cooking in earnest. Nothing too fancy, but a little more elaborate than what I'm just throwing together these days.

I've also decided to try the novel idea of actually inviting people over now and again. Of course, this will be made much easier once they have somewhere to sit. Providing food will also be a good incentive.

In other random news, I took a nap today because I was so damned wiped from yesterday, but it hasn't done me any good. Will be going to bed early, accordingly.

I should probably think about dinner now.
