Since I won't be doing much of anything on Saturday, shortness of funds being what it is (my computer's power adapter cord died last week and I had to replace it, which cost a tidy sum thank you very much), I figure I'll stay here and catch up on LJ. I won't even be going to my parents' empty apartment to watch television, since I can't really afford the gas and/or bus tickets to get there. I'm going to be pathetic and broke until next week's paycheque. :P

So, staying home Saturday is good.

I want to make some new icons, for one. I'm thinking of revamping my LJ look, since I'm no longer unemployed and depressed. ^_- Any suggestions? I'll be keeping my newer icons, as well as the cat ones. Otherwise, many of them will be overhauled.

Also, I have a ton of entries that need to be written and backdated, since a lot of exciting stuff has happened in the last few weeks. There was [livejournal.com profile] curtana and [livejournal.com profile] forthright's visit to Montreal, and there was Bigfoot's Megawargame, and my friend Christine's fortieth birthday party, among the most notable events.

An update on work today shall be forthcoming. I need to make a work icon. :D

Gretzky's sitting with me on the bed (yay for having a laptop!) and is licking my hand. I am absurdly pleased. She's very affectionate. *purrs at her kitty*

Had an odd day at work. Six billion crises, which is about the norm, and a weird encounter with the Supervisor.

Rambling about lumper services. Make with the clicky to find out what I'm talking about! )

Moving right along, I had to put out several little fires, all of which meant I didn't finish the P.O.s for the truck repairs and PMs (PMs are grease jobs and routine maintenance done on the trucks).

There were dozens of phone calls about misplaced products, and the people from Distal wanted to know how many pallets we were delivering and when we were going to pick up our empty trailer (fucked if I know, ask the guys in dispatch!). Then there was a whole bunch of misplaced product floating around. Something for Gourmet Laurier loaded mistakenly in Luc Desiel's truck, and 45 cases of Kraft stuff on the Baden dock that had supposedly already been signed for but which obviously hadn't been delivered. Yeesh.

After that, one of the trucks broke down, which means tons of reships for tomorrow. Gah.

Oh, and mustn't forget the weird encounter with my supervisor. He cornered me by the photocopier today and asked me how I thought I was doing and why. Luckily I had the presence of mind not to do my characteristic downplaying of my accomplishments because I loathe people who brag. So I didn't go overboard with the humble, and I think I managed to paint a pretty accurate and positive portrait of my past two months working for Erb. Go me!

I'm going to go bed early-ish, as I'm driving my mother to the airport at 6:15 tomorrow morning. o_O

Just got out of a super intense scene in [livejournal.com profile] perseity. Serves me right for creating a character with an ailing wife. :P

I don't know. Her death hit way close to home, what with my uncle and everything, and I had to stop because I was sobbing so hard I couldn't see and was having trouble breathing.

Funny. I thought I was more reconciled to the idea of my uncle's passing than that. Suddenly I found myself completely overcome. Memories of my paternal grandfather's final moments, and my maternal grandmother came back, too. Something about the moment of letting go...

Dammit, I'm crying again.

Okay, going to go pull myself together. I can't be a basket case tomorrow.

It was a brilliant scene, but incredibly intense and hard...
