Moving on up
Mar. 27th, 2004 08:55 pm... or not, as the case may be.
lux80 is partially moved in, after one of the most frustrating moving days we've both had, I think.
Turns out Discount wanted to charge $500 on my credit card as security (I hadn't been told this, only that they would keep my credit card with them as security), which didn't go through. So we couldn't get the moving van.
Luckily I'm only missing a small margin on my card to make $500, so I transferred some money from my now-suffering checking account onto it. In the meantime, we're going to try U-Haul, because they only want a $200 deposit. We're hoping they'll have something for us this last-minute. Otherwise, we're keeping our fingers crossed that my bank will actually have registered the transfer of money on a weekend in such a short space of time. I doubt it, but there you go.
*beats head against wall*
I am *very* dissatisfied with Discount. They refused any kind of compromise: they refused to take cash, anything but $500 on a credit card with the same name as the driver's license of the person renting the van.
So, keep your fingers crossed for U-Haul, folks.
In the meantime, we moved some of
lux80's lighter stuff in my car, just the stuff she would need to spend the night here instead of at her place.
At least we got that done, and then had a nice dinner of chicken and rice and ice cream. Now I think we're both going to collapse from exhaustion (karaoke last night was a bad idea), and go to bed.
The cats like her already, although Pan-Pan is upset that she didn't share her chicken, and Smudge is looking vexed that he can't hide under the bathtub while she takes a shower.
