Phnee is up past her bedtime! No good can come of this. ^_-

I got a gift certificate to HMV! Eee!

Prospero's Daughter and [livejournal.com profile] lux80 took me out for Indian food! Eee!

We had lots of fun. Dinner was great, and they got me a present! I was so not expecting a present! Eee!

*Happy Bouncy Dance*

I get to buy CDs and maybe a DVD and Eee!

We also watched The Russian Ark at my insistence, which we rented at the local video store. Let's just say I'm the only one who enjoyed it. This is one of the few points on which my mother and I agree: weird Russian art films. We both like them. Most people don't. This one is one long camera shot, uncut, following the same character through the Hermitage Museum outside St. Petersburg if memory serves as said character moves in and out of different time periods in Russian history. Very, very surreal. It had no real point, and this disturbed poor Prospero's Daughter and [livejournal.com profile] lux80, who kept trying to figure out whether the narrator and the character were dead or crazy.

Prospero's Daughter came up with the quote of the evening with regards to the movie: "I'm a Virgo, dammit! I need purpose!"

So, yes, a very very good birthday celebration, all in all.

We also got to watch the trailer of Wrong Turn which Prospero's Daughter bought as a previously-viewed DVD at the video store. We might watch that tomorrow evening, or else Resident Evil, which [livejournal.com profile] lux80 hasn't seen yet.

Off to bed now!

I never thought I'd say this, but I do think that Smudge is officially rehabilitated. Apart from the occasional spraying behaviour he's become quite the gentleman cat, or at the very least a Fur Person. :)

He's gained enough weight that I can no longer consider him underweight. I think getting fixed helped with that a bit (it often makes male cats gain a bit of weight, from what I've understood), luckily. Getting fixed also seems to have mostly cured that whole spraying thing. *knocks on wood* That was truly annoying. I'm still dealing with the aftermath of that. Not fun. >_<

Not only that, but he's actually become more or less socialised. I haven't really tested him on other humans yet, but he has demonstrated in the past that he won't run away and growl and hide when my mother is around, so that's a good thing. She doesn't come by often (hasn't been here in at least three or four months), so that proves it's not just because he's used to her that he stayed out while she was here.

He actually puts up with being picked up without growling or hissing now, although he begs to be put down within about thirty seconds, which is just fine. Not all cats like being picked up. However, when they are picked up, there should be no histrionics, and now there aren't any. I'm so proud of my baby! *beam*

He's also getting along better with the other cats. Not spectacularly well, but better. There's less hissing and spitting and nastiness. Mostly they've learned to keep out of each other's way, which is just fine. When they do come face to face, one or the other will get out of the way.

Last but not least, he's getting far more cuddly. He comes to me a lot more to get petted and to jump in my lap and demand my attention. He loves being brushed (he's a long hair and has a bit of trouble keeping his coat under control), although his stomach is still something of a sensitive area for him. Sometimes he likes having his tummy rubbed, and sometimes it's off-limits, depending on his mood. He basically has to offer his tummy to be rubbed, or else you're not allowed to touch it.

So, for a cat who, about six months ago, refused to come out of the closet for food or the litter box, this is pretty darned impressive. :)

Forgot to mention that I gave a lift home to [livejournal.com profile] lux80's manager, Corey yesterday, which made us about ten minutes late for our restaurant reservation. However, we didn't lose our table, so there was no harm done.

Corey did have the misfortune to live in Lasalle, in the frikkin' opposite direction of where we were going, but the poor guy looked bedraggled and pathetic and I have a hard time saying no to people under the best of circumstances.

Actually, I didn't know he was her manager (rather, he's the assistant manager, but whatever) until afterward. He just looked like this pathetic little kid she had in tow after work when I picked her up and I felt sorry for him and agreed to give him a lift.

At least I earned her brownie points at work. He'd had a rough day, so it was all good.

This post is mostly a gratuitous icon post, because I made myself a new icon. It reminds me of the Laurentian mountains where I spent a good part of the formative years of my youth. *happy sigh*

I'm playing Perseity for the first time in three weeks, and it feels very odd. It's like getting back into any game after a prolonged absence: everyone has moved on, and I'm no longer in character, all the story lines have progressed... Margot is proving easier to retrieve than Hermenegildus, probably because I always identified more with her than with him. Also, this year I'm going to have less time on my hands to devote to Perseity, but I have a third character to worry about. I'm not sure how I'm going to handle that. I think I may have to talk to Steve about that when we're not actually playing. I have some ideas about how to work that.

Meh.

I'm going to go email Prospero's Daughter and see if she wants to go food shopping later today. My cupboards and fridge are still empty. :P

I decided, just in case, to make an icon for when I'm in a more depressed mood. Hey, I'm Bipolar, it can happen even when I'm medicated. ^_-

So I shamelessly nicked a line from Pink Floyd and stuck it onto a pretty picture I found at Getty Images, and voilà! Icon!

I still have ten slots to fill, though, before I hit my quota!

Eee!

Icons are fun! :)
