Gah... yes, I'm updating, I swear!
Nov. 20th, 2003 04:34 pmDrawing lesson with
karine went well, all things considered. I hadn't realised exactly how long drawing is. I had an idea that it was a long process, but I think I'm too used to being able to pump out a hundred to two hundred words in about five minutes or less when I'm on a roll, and I expected the drawing to go, I don't know, faster or something.
We're doing something similar to Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain, so
karine had me copy one of her drawings upside-down. It was a woman in an American army uniform (don't know exactly which, so don't ask). The uniform part of it went pretty well. The face, on the other hand, would have made Picasso proud. I didn't quite line up one of the eyes properly, so the poor woman looks kind of deformed. >_< Oops.
Tried the face right-side up using more or less the same method (I basically made a grid and drew from that), and it came out looking a lot better. Have been working on my homework a bit, but I think I'll need to cut out a small rectangle in a sheet of paper and do it portion by portion, because so far it's not working too well. :P
In other news: lunch with
firewillow went quite well. Saw some interesting books at Chapters which I may get on Sunday, when they're having a 20% sale on everything.
Had absolutely rocking dinner with
joane and
shenlo, who are rapidly becoming my closest friends in Montreal. This is a Good Thing™. We chatted and plotted and tormented their cats, then chatted and plotted and tormented their cats some more. All in all, a very pleasant way to spend four hours, and I hope to someday soon be able to return the favour. In other words, I have to clean out this apartment (probably needs to be sandblasted at this point :P), and remember how to cook a full meal.
In other words, 'tis all good right now. :)
