I've been inspired by [livejournal.com profile] hermione_like to post about this.

I'd appreciate it if you would read this when you get the chance, as it's rather important to me )

You are Idril Celebrindal
You are Idril Celebrindal, mother of Earendil the
Blessed. You spurned the forbidden love of your
cousin Maeglin, giving your heart instead to
the mortal Tuor. In secret you constructed a
tunnel out of the city, suspecting Maeglin's
treachery, so that when Gondolin was attacked
you were able to lead your family and a small
following of friends to safety in Arvernian.
When Tuor grew old you sailed with him into the
West and were never again seen in Middle-earth.

Which Elf chick are you from Tolkien's Quenta Silmarillion?

I don't know how on earth people could complain about being limited to a mere fifty posts a day. I can barely get three out if I'm lucky. Then again, I do post more if I'm at work. Then it sometimes goes up to four or five.

This is just a "how my day went" kind of post, so you needn't read it if you're looking for insightful commentary. Actually, if you're looking for insightful commentary I'd suggest another place entirely, as I generally use this place to bitch about how awful my job is. ;)

Anyhoo, today was a good day, all in all. Awoke around 10:30 and ended up having to cancel brunch with the Parental Units, who were each in a flap about their work. I decided avoiding them was a better plan, at least until they ceased having hysterics.

I poked at my LiveJournal, wrote a vaguely impassioned entry on bullying, then toddled off around 2:30 to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave for driving lessons.

For the record, he's not a bad driver. :) His Spousal Unit sat in the back seat and quivered with terror while he chattered on happily about mangled and smoking wreckage and mutilated bodies being removed morsel by morsel by the Jaws of Life and how at least there weren't any nearby cliffs he could drive off of. Poor woman, I really wonder sometimes at her patience with him. If he hadn't been driving my car I would have thwacked him upside the head.

It was odd being a passenger in my own car, but it was still pleasant. I tried very very hard not to be too much of a backseat driver even though I was there to give him tips on driving and so forth, because I've driven with my father before and I know how nerve–wracking it can be to drive with someone who's perpetually criticising every move you make. I had a few "eep" moments, but not of a particularly deadly nature, so all in all it turned out very well indeed. We even stopped off for doughnuts at the local Dunkin Donuts where [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave practised his perpendicular parking skills.

We returned without incident, and Fearsclave was on the point of showing me how to tie a fly (a Wooly Bugger IIRC) when [livejournal.com profile] firewillow showed up for the Mage game. The flies were immediately forgotten, and after the details of food and so forth were sorted out, we set to.

My resolve to be a button-pusher this game was sadly weakened, but I hope to strengthen it before next week's game. Still, it was lots of fun, especially Humble, the bodyguard–pretending–to–be–a–butler who hovered, as Fearsclave put it, "like a sollicitous stealth helicopter." Much much fun. Am glad there won't be too much of a time lapse before the next game. I want Blythe to have a Monolith so she can channel Quintessence, dammit! If that last sentence didn't make sense to you, you are probably not alone in the universe. Is a roleplaying thing, don't worry about it.

I drove home in a spectacularly beautiful blizzard. The snowflakes danced about my car and sparkled under the street lamps, swept over the bonnet of my car by strong gusts of wind. I would have loved to have gone walking in the snowstorm, but I was busy trying not to crash my car.

Tomorrow I'm invited for dinner by the parents of my godchild, and while I do love them dearly, I really don't feel like going. Luckily, I won't be the only guest, and the other people there will be good family friends and serve as a nice buffer, I hope.

I have no idea how to conclude this post gracefully, so I will end it here. Hah.
