I been robbed, me
Sep. 3rd, 2002 12:26 pmWell, in spite of shitty occurrences, this weekend was by no means a complete loss.
First off, my new car rawks. I can do 140 in it and not feel it. Hah.
Wingfield on Ice was brilliant, and I can hardly wait to listen to the rest of them on tape.
My boyfriend is marvelous. Did I ever say that before? Not only did he do the "pat the weeping girlfriend" thing which is all-important when one has been burgled and the cat has run off, but he also didn't bat an eye when I wanted to come back a day and a half early (thus missing his older brother's housewarming party).
He also offered to help me look for George, and once my kitty was found he went with me to the pet store, was marvelously understanding and even helped me adjust the collars and make new holes in them when it turned out they were too large for my kitties.
I spent a happy and quiet Sunday afternoon and evening with my cats, who clung to me like limpets until well into Monday morning. I brushed them and petted them and fussed over them and gave them cat treats ("Scooby Snacks for everyone!") and by the time I was done they were looking decidedly happier.
George as it turns out is quite the bright youngster. When he found he couldn't get back in the apartment, he stuck around on the balcony waiting for someone to let him in.
*melts*
Who's my good boy? :)
So now my week looks busy. The burglars ripped my back door off its hinges, so I have to get it replaced, and I need to fix the damage to my front door and the screen on my balcony door which they ripped apart in an effort to get out before they realised it didn't lead anywhere.
Had a nice day with parents, then Fire, then Poms yesterday. Filled out many forms, saw Lilo & Stitch, received a fish, had stew, watched Star Trek: Save the Whales!
Today is busy, for some unaccountable reason. everyone is back from the long weekend and cranky because their phones don't work and their bills aren't paid. I *really* want to go home, and yet I feel disconnected from my friends now that I no longer have access to the internet.
Meh.

I'm doing surprisingly okay. I was really upset about George, but now that he's back the rest seems inconsequential. I've lost a few irreplaceable texts (like my Honours Thesis and some emails I didn't want to lose), but nothing I can't live without.
My apartment is actually pretty cleann now. Damage was minimal, and as I'd already tidied up before leaving it wasn't too hard to clean up the mess the burglars made.
The cats are now staging a protest about the collars three days later. :)
