Still no sign of George. Am all emo and doing the back-of-hand-to-forehead thing.

I miss my kitty.

My roommate's cat ran off for near a week once...back when I had roommates. Little bastard spent most of that time hiding under a neighbor's shed and eating rats, and the rest of it in said neighbor's house. Came back significantly fatter between the rats and all the kitty treats the neighbor gave him.

These things can end well, happily. I hope that's the case here. Course, I was convinced that Pursey had caught wind of an attractive girl cat and gotten eaten by a hawk along the way, so being a bit negative about it is natural.

Ugh. I hope he comes home soon. I've been there so many times (the worst when the neighbour girls let my injured, on anibiotics and wearing a cone cat out the window "because they wanted to pet him" he was missing for a week).

I'm sure he'll be home soon wearing that smug "what were you so worried about?" look cats get when they come back from their "vacations".

Cats do have this annoying tendency of coming back, grumblemutter.

A friend of mine's cat was gone for 14 days. He came back incredibly thirsty. It turned out he had gotten locked in a neighbour's garage or shed or something and they were on vacation for two weeks.

Paze at work sez:

Man, I'm so sorry.

A family friend of mine is a bit of a cat and cat rescue expert, and she says that the sooner you put out the missing signs---with photo, if possible---the better: There is a good chance that someone has taken George in (lost cats are pretty smart about that), and may be waiting for owner/address/phone info.; problem is, they don't tend to wait very long before a) dumping the cat with the SPCA or b)deciding to keep the cat, with the thinking that his owner has abandoned him, and/or must not care much that he's gone. (And obviously the latter is not remotely the case with you---I'm just talking about the assumptions made.

Best of luck---I hope he's home soon!!
