This happens to me all the time. I plan things waaaaay ahead of time, because that's how stupidly busy my life is due to scheduling stuff. So things get filed away in my head under the classification "Really Far Ahead In The Future."

Unfortunately, they never get un-filed, even though objectively I know they're getting closer. So now I just realized that next weekend I'm leaving town, and I sort of planned for that, only there was an extra cooking commitment in there which I only just now remembered. *headdesk* Yeah, in my head it was all "I really need to remember that I have that thing for which I need to make lasagna in October... wait."

Hey, at least I remembered now instead of Thursday, when there would have been a mad scrambling panic.

Eesh. Brain, meet cottage cheese. The two of you have SO much in common I'm sure you'll have LOTS to talk about.

Heh. Cottage cheese. Lasanga. Heh.

I don't know if I'm better or worse. I remembered the cooking commitment, but didn't realise that I'd have to actually add the necessary foodstuffs to the weekly grocery run... till after I got home from the weekly grocery run. *headdesk*

Read "Getting Things Done" It is freakin' awesome for helping with organization. :) Not that I am world's most organized critter, but it definately helped.

I'm the same way. This very morning I completely forgot a monthly commitment which I often forget until the day before, but which today eluded me completely. Grrr! I hate that, especially when it's a commitment which I rather enjoy, like this one. I even sometimes forget weekly things, like Devon's Girl Guides, until the day of; but when it's once a month, I'm apparently pretty brainless.

I get caught in the same trap too, even when I write things down in handy places, that problem still nails me from time to time.

Google Calendar, with reminders, is your friend. I even get SMS reminders sent to my phone.

I tried Google calendar, but for one I can't seem to get it to NOT be in French (why?!?), and for two either I'm an idiot or it's not real user-friendly. Given that it's Google, I'm leaning toward the former. :P

Also, I'd have to remember to actually update it. I'm okay with a paper agenda, when I use it. My current one hasn't been used in a while, which I think may be part of the problem.

Does it really help with non-work things? I get the feeling that a lot of these "organization" books are for people with nine-to-five jobs who need help prioritizing their tasks and phone calls, which is pretty much exactly the opposite of what I need. :P

Urgh. The two of us should team up! Between the both of us, we had ALL the information. :P

Take what you need, leave the rest. Things that apply to you will be helpful, the stuff that isn't applicable throw out.

My problem with paper agendas is that you have to actually look at them. I like the fact that google calendar sends me email.

The language should be the same for all of your google stuff. You can change it under settings. I have several calendars. One for personal stuff, one for biz, one for bill paying. If you want to try again, feel free to ask me any questions about how it works.
