Between constantly losing my camera cable and being really busy at work, I never got around to posting pictures of the garden.

There are a lot, but here's a sampling:

Crocuses! (Croci?) The first sign of spring:

The roses flowered beautifully:

The rhubarb. If you can credit it, this was taken over a month ago:

Cherries! Yum. I need to plan better for these next year, though. I was completely caught off-guard.

This is reflects about 25% of the basil I got this year:

Cherry tomatoes, as of last weekend:

My sad, slug-eaten cucumber. I got exactly two tiny cucumbers this year:

The peppers didn't do very well, sadly:

The Big Beef tomatoes, as of this weekend:

That's about as well as the peppers ever do, IME. We don't really live in an outdoor pepper-growing climate.

Great job on the garden, it looks fantastic!

I seem to recall your pepper plants growing more than a foot high. ;)

Ours didn't. We tried for three years, got foot-high plants, and weeny little peppers that weren't good for much. We gave up and planted more! tomatoes! instead.

Nice pictures. They made me hungry.

Thanks!

For a first attempt at a garden, it all worked out pretty well. I'm lucky that [livejournal.com profile] ai731 did so much of the groundwork before she left. :)

For a first attempt it looks impressive. I think our volunteer plants this year are doing better than the things we planted.

Wow... looks like your garden was a raging sucess this year. I am wistfully pointing out the tomatoes in particular.

Thanks!

Parts of it were a raging success. The basil and lettuce did really well. Some were okay: the herbs and onions are a little iffy. Some parts just sucked: my garlic disappeared, and the cucumbers and peppers sulked due to slugs and the weather.

Overall I'm pleased with this first effort. There was a pretty steep learning curve, and I'm much more optimistic for next year in terms of planning.

Your garlic may return next year we've had that happen before.

Yes, ours keeps coming back, year after year...

Even after harvesting?

Yeah. We're mystified. Every year we think we've pulled it all out, and we turn over the soil and everything... and then next year the damn stuff comes back. At least it's only a plant or two, and it doesn't multiply. We inherited it from the previous tenants, who may have inherited it from someone earlier.

Hmmm, wonder if its reseeding itself.

Very pretty! Cucumbers sometimes do better if you get a screen under them, or train them up a trellis. That way they don't lie on the ground and get mushy/slug-ridden.
