Not actually retail therapy

mousmeI went clothes shopping today for the first time since January. Yeah, did I mention I don't like buying clothes?
Anyway, I realized recently that I have no good clothes for work anymore. All the clothes I currently own are so old (I'm talking 5-15 years old) that they've lost their shape, have developed holes and inexplicably detached hemlines, and are faded beyond recognition.
One of my coworkers, let's call her Freakout!Girl, who is prone to a whole lot of anxiety, gave me a few of her old clothes that don't fit anymore (she's recently lost a lot of weight). Most of it fits me pretty well, except for some of the button-down shirts, since I am, erm, more amply endowed than she in the bosom department. Her taste isn't quite the same as mine, but it turns out that some of the stuff is pretty nice and looks good with my new hairdo! So, win.
Anyway, Freakout!Girl's contribution was not going to be enough to see me through the winter, so I went out and got three pairs of nice work pants and two shirts. I think I may have to invest in more shirts later, but I thought that that was more than enough money to spend in one day on an activity I don't especially enjoy. Nonetheless, I am pleased with my acquisitions.
One of the reasons I went today (rather than, say, trying to tough it out until January, when I take advantage of sales and the extra 10% discount I always get because of my birthday) was that I'm going to need decent clothes while I'm in Québec City and surrounded by Very Important People. Gotta represent, ya feel me?
Also, I'm meeting BorderCrossing's parents tomorrow (they're coming to town briefly) and I want to make as good an impression as possible while still being pretty much bald. Yeesh.
And no, I did not in fact buy any socks.
