I just sent in my registration form for Shave To Save.

I will keep you all informed of my progress, naturally.

Donations are appreciated, welcome, and most encouraged, from those of you who want to and can afford it. Moral support is also very much appreciated.

I don't know what date they will assign to me, but I kind of hope it's toward the end of the month (they say it gets awfully overbooked, though, so it may end up being much earlier), because that'll be after I get back from Québec City.

I am not getting nearly as much support from the RCMP as I thought thus far. I am still hopeful that I can get them to match whatever money I raise, but so far my suggestion has been met with, erm, very little enthusiasm. I am disappointed, but haven't given up hope yet. I figure I can raise $2,000 on my own, if I hit up enough of my friends, family, and random acquaintances. ;)

Anyone know how I can set up a PayPal account (or something better, after all the nightmare stories I've heard about PayPal) in order to accept donations from afar?

Paypal is simple. Go to www.paypal.com and enter in the info that they ask for. You don't have to have a credit card but you will need to enter in bank info. I've never had trouble with them whatsoever and I didn't find it difficult. It does however take a few days to get it step up before it's ready to use. It's a great way for people to send you money for donations as they can be anywhere on the planet and it works! I think that's a great idea. I will definately donate to support you and the cause!

Hurray! I will do that when I get home. I think if I do it with my bank information it might be better. Less temptation to use my credit card that way...

I dunno, I've heard PayPal can be jerks when they're hooked up to your bank account. On the whole, I'd rather give them my credit card than my bank account, because then I've got more protection, and if something goes wrong then my bank account won't get hit by the fallout. But maybe I'm just paranoid - I also gave them an old credit card I almost never use just so it's obvious if anything ever gets charged to it. I also haven't used PayPal to receive money, so I dunno how well it works for that with a credit card.

All that said, I've never had any problems paying for stuff with PayPal, and I gather that whomever I paid must have gotten their money somehow.

Go you! I can't spare much, but I can send in something -- when you get a chance, email me your address at tx_cronopio at livejournal dot com (I'm not on pay pal these days).

Also, did I mention "go, you?" xox

I was just thinking of doing this myself this year.... and wondering when it was. I'm not sure I'm up for it, but I'll sponsor you. Brave woman.

YAY!

If you are going to be at Tarasmas next Saturday, I will be accepting donations discreetly. :)
