One of the IT guys, a very long time ago, thought it would be really cute to have one of the alarm systems sound like the "Red Alert" sound on Star Trek.

It's been going off all. morning. long.

They would dock my pay for the rest of eternity if I tossed the thing through a window, thus I shall exercize restraint.

Sadly, the CSST people insisted we run all our wires and cables under the floor or behind wall panels, precisely so that people wouldn't trip over them.

Otherwise, I'd be VERY tempted.

Well, if it weren't the Red Alert sound from Star Trek it would be something else going off and driving you mad. At least with Star Trek there's a bit of a chuckle factor...

I remember Trek episodes in which the Captain would say "turn of the damn alarms". Because the alarm would be so shrill that nobody could concentrate and get anything done.

haha! The alarm that tells us when a fire fighter has hit his emergency button sounds like that. They were having Mayday drills one day and that kept going off and I'd say, "Shields up!"
