I am contemplating pancakes.

Plans to go to the GFHW fell through as [livejournal.com profile] fearsclave and his Wuh-Mun had other plans during the time I would have been able to come up. Boo. There is a weekend planned in the near future, though, so that's a consolation.

I awoke just after sunrise this morning, a good way to greet the summer solstice, if I do say so myself. I spent a quiet morning reading, catching up on LJ, and cuddling with the cats. I haven't had coffee or breakfast yet.

I'm going out this evening with friends, and we'll be watching the fireworks after dinner.

Otherwise, all I have to do today is buy food for the week and make a pharmacy run. My de-cluttering projects for the week are my two book cases and my two closets. I have no idea if I'll have the time to do all of it, but I'm going to do them one at a time and it'll take the time it takes. I can't imagine any of them will take more than an hour each: none of these things is crammed to overflowing or anything. One per day means four days of de-cluttering.

The current goal is to try and have all the junk I don't want gone by July 1st.

Otherwise, this coming week is a night shift week. I just hope that the temperatures are the way they were this past week: that way I'll be able to get some sleep. If not, well, I may cave and buy myself an air conditioner. Time will tell.

Off to start the day. Have a great weekend, everyone!

I cannot imagine you getting by without an air conditioner.

My declutter goal this week is actually outside, not in. I have some plant that really, really need to get into the ground. I'm not physically able to do that myself, so I need Savant or a summer kid to help me. Hiring a summer kid is tough around here; most of the families would not dream of letting their children do physical labor.

If I ever have children (which seems unlikely these days... *sigh*), I will encourage them to get outside and do as much out there as they can. I grew up outdoors, even if I was a city kid, and I think it did a lot to keep me active and well-adjusted. My mother also forbade video games (though not television) in an attempt to keep me not glued to a screen all day. In retrospect, I think she was right.

It's easy enough to get by in Montreal without an air conditioner. I haven't ever owned one, although I lived for two years with my parents in a condo which had central air (that was nice). We get a few weeks in the summer which are horribly hot, but that's by local standards: anywhere between 28 and 35 degrees Celsius (82.4F to 95F). The rest of the time our temperatures in the summertime hover around 25C (77F). I got the conversions from an online source, so they may not be all that precise.

So, anyway, A/C around here is a luxury, unlike heating in the winter, which is a necessity.

Good weekend to you too! I still have a box or two (or three?) in the basement of books that have to be given away. I have a place coming to pick them up on the 25th, so I really should get going on that.

>>>most of the families would not dream of letting their children do physical labor.<<

That is crazy! I would LOVE for my youngest to find a job, especially an outside one. Too bad most people around here aren't hiring and she isn't old enough to go to someone that I don't know well. I know that she would do it gladly. She likes to be outside and is at an age where she appreciates money, LOL>
