Not a real update
Jun. 20th, 2007 01:24 amReal update shall come later. In the meantime, I have pictures of Smudge, who got shaved last week. He looks really, really stupid, but it had to be done.
As you can imagine, Smudge was not best pleased at being shoved into a carrier and handed off to strangers who manhandled him in a very undignified manner. He howled and screeched and yowled for the three-minute car ride to the groomers', and basically let on that he was dying until we let him out of the carrier. Then he sat very quietly on the counter while the groomers patted him and fussed over him and asked me questions.
I did warn the groomers that he was not a friendly cat, outward appearances to the contrary aside. I told them he was nervous and skittish and had never been to a groomer before. I told them he was not declawed. I warned them, I swear. I think he just lulled them into a false sense of security by purring while they started their work. You'd think that the fact that he hung onto the counter with all four sets of claws when they tried to take him from me might have been an indication, but apparently not.
I left him with them, thinking all would be well. When I got back, I was greeted with: "Yeah, your cat is really aggressive."
Turns out that he was a perfect gentleman with them, and let them clip his claws and clean his ears and shave him from shoulders to rump, until they tried to shave his stomach. Then all the claws came out, and he basically tried to disembowel the woman's forearm, while at the same time sinking his teeth into her hand. She had a bandage from elbow to wrist when I came back. I felt appropriately guilty, but I *did* warn them. They were understanding about the whole thing, so I don't think I'm going to get sued.
They gave him a lion cut (God knows why), although because he resisted so much at the end it's pretty rough around the edges. In short, he looks stupid.

You may now laugh at his expense. It's unavoidable, really.

I say Smudge looks more stupid... because Peanut at least has some fat to compensate for the lack of fur. Poor Smudge...

Date: 2007-06-20 01:41 pm (UTC)His head looks the same size as the rest of him, almost.
And I notice they didn't go near his claws — hence the poodle look.

Date: 2007-06-20 06:45 pm (UTC)The second photo makes me want to buy Smudge a large gold chain with a "$" pendant on it.
Are those really the color of his eyes? No wonder cats scare me.

Ok, I give up. He's hilarious. And he looks so very insulted about it all... in an "I'm going to kill you so dead" kind of way.
