I got myself a PS2.

Yes, am now officially a computer gamer. Or whatever it's called.

Final Fantasy X is very, very pretty. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to save my game, which means I've had to go through the entire beginning sequence four times now. Before you ask, I did in fact RTFM, and the FM sayeth that there should be a "saving sphere" every now and then that I must use. I just haven't seen any so far. Either I'm blind, or else I just haven't got far enough in the game for it to warrant saving. I'm slightly annoyed by this, but thus far that has been outweighed by the shiny. :)

Um, can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

*goes back to RTFM again*

Woohoo! Congratulations!

Can't help with Final Fantasy, but can I just say... Elder Scrolls Oblivion! Best. Game. Ever.

Shiny!

Hee hee hee!

We are such geeks. We can't figure out how to save properly. (Because yes, I have the same problem in certain games with my DS.) And some of the FMs for the games I've got don't tell you how to save at all.

Yay you for the shiny!

I joined [livejournal.com profile] girl_gamers and have already discovered recommendations and so forth. Open bunch of people who don't make me feel like I'm in it for the wrong reasons or like I'm stupid because I like weak/dumb/boring games.

Er. Please insert "They are" at the beginning of that final sentence in order for it to make sense.

I checked gamefaqs.com and there should be one after the first boss fight, while your still fighting along side Auron. It should show up on the map as a white square. It looks like a floating blue sphere, I think.

Do you have a memory card to save the game on?

Okay---someday somebody had better invite me over to look at one of these games. The only games I've ever really been exposed to and gotten interested in were Sonic the Hedgehog (boy, does that date me) and The Sims.

Thanks for the recommendation!

I shall go check it out. I have since figured out how to save. Turns out I just hadn't got far enough in the game.

I had the following amusing exchange with [livejournal.com profile] toughlovemuse about it:

Me: I can't figure this out! Aren't there supposed to be spheres or something?

TLM: Well, there should be one on the ship.

Me: Ship?

TLM: The one where they tell him he's a thousand years in the future?

Me: Ship? Future?

TLM: Okay, forget that I just divulged a major plot point. Where are you?

Me: I got killed by flying frog-fish-things.

TLM: Maybe you have to get past the first encounter before you can save. As I recall, the first battle is pretty easy.

Me: That's where I died. Twice.

TLM: Oh.

You can come over any time. You're off now, or soon, yes?

Also: The first one's free.

Did you get it worked out?

This is what a save sphere looks like, in case you're missing it. Walk up to it and hit X.

Hee! Yeah, I too am lousy at the battles. This is why I am not a serious gamer and why the X-Box never really grabbed me; I get frustrated very quickly. My brain doesn't seem to work the way games expect it to work.
