On a random note...

Okay, this is purely self-serving. You have been warned. Heck, I'll even cut-tag it for those who don't like posts that are all about the poster asking for stuff for themselves.


Since Christmas *and* my birthday are coming up, I thought I would say this:

I like presents.

I don't expect presents, and I am not hurt if I don't get any.

In fact, I am usually broke and thus generally don't give any to my friends, or else I give teeny tiny small symbolic presents to my friends on their birthdays. So in return I don't expect anything to be given to me at all. Most of the people I know are also very much strapped for cash.

That being said, I do like presents, and the kind of presents I like are books. Lots and lots of books. Even more specifically, gifts certificates to places where I can buy books in Montreal. Chapters, Indigo, Coles, and of course all the small bookstores in and around Montreal.

See, it takes me about a day and a half to read a 450-page book. Given that those puppies cost about $10 (and that's a conservative estimate), that means that my little habit costs me anywhere between $40 and $100 a week. Now, I don't actually read 7 books a week. I ration myself, and I re-read books, and I knit and I do other crafts, and I practice music and I have dance classes. But still, I go through a fair number of books a year. So, every little bit helps. :D

Okay, I have said it. If, by any remote chance, you had the slightest intention of getting me a Christmas/birthday present, there's a big hint right there.

Muah-hah-hah-hah. It just so happens that I like to give gifts when people don't expect them, and I have a little something for you already as well.
