Okay, so. I'm attempting to get ahold of Dreamweaver, or some similar wysiwyg (oh my God, I can't believe the spellchecker isn't underlining that! O_O), so that I can post stuff on the web without it being, you know, in my LiveJournal.

'Cause NaNoWriMo is coming up, and I was thinking of putting my serial in a place which won't force people to wade through other entries and what have you.

So, yes.

Can someone help me out? Where can I find Dreamweaver for Macs? Can Mac people download stuff from bitorrent? See, my credit card is terminally ill right now, so I can't exactly just go buy the blessed thing.

Yes, yes, I know. I'm functionally illiterate when it comes to computers. Bad Phnee. Twenty lashes with a wet noodle, and so forth.

Help?

Don't know about places you can download Mac software besides P2P programs (Poison is what I normally use), but there's a Mac version of the BitTorrent client. You get it from the same place you get the Windows version.

Check download.com's Mac section for a wysiwyg editor, there may be some there. Be sure to check the reviews before downloading anything. I'd be more specific, but I use TacoHTML, which I don't think has a wysiwyg interface (it does, however, have a lot of helpful stuff in its menus to auto-do stuff).

Forgive the dumb question, but 'wysiwyg'?

What You See Is What You Get. It's any sort of program that translates your code into a format that looks like what the final product will look like, making bug-checking a lot easier.

Ah... In that case, I've always used MS FrontPage. The newer versions are a lot more user friendly and provide various methods of viewing the finished page. I did the Heirs (http://heirs.fateback.com) page using it and I can't complain about the final result.

Of course, if you want graphics you need a second program :P

I'm on a Mac (OS X), and I mostly use either Adobe GoLive (which I bought, and which is wonderful but probably far more powerful than you need), or a combination of PageSpinner (which I love) and Safari. I'm not sure what Mac operating system you're using, but I'm glad to give more info on stuff if you like. :)

Mac people can download stuff from BitTorrent, as well as many other p2p filesharing networks. Here are a few links to my favorite p2p programs for OS X:

Tomato Torrent (http://sarwat.net/bittorrent/)
Acquisition (http://www.acquisitionx.com/)
Poisoned (http://gottsilla.net/)
LimeWire (http://www.limewire.com/english/content/home.shtml)

Tomato Torrent will let you download from the BitTorrent network, but that's all it does. And since BitTorrent doesn't have a search function, you'd have to find a .torrent file to download, then tell Tomato Torrent to grab it. Kind of a pain, but the program's nice if you know where to download something already.

Acquisition is probably my favorite the bunch. It's a multi-network program, so you can fire it up and search multiple filesharing networks all from one program. Poisoned is roughly the same.

LimeWire is a "classic" application (not in the OS 9 sense, mind you) that's been around for a long time. It's the Mac answer to Gnutella and is still pretty heavily used.

Also, I have a copy of Dreamweaver MX for Mac (at least, I think the Mac version I have is MX...I know I have it for Windows) and could probably put it online for you sometime this week, if you can't find it before then. Things are kind of chaotic with my move and stuff, though, so try the p2p networks first. :)
