400 clients in the queue since 8am, 1,500 people taking calls since that time. Average of 1 call per person every five minutes. You do the math.

*faceplants*

Apparently there was a system failure yesterday, which means that thousands of calls didn't get answered, which means a rush for the next week or so. *sigh*

Oh, did I mention that *today* another part of the system is down? Not one that impacts the clients, just one that makes my job *that* much harder and more unpleasant. :P

I think I'm going to resume shipping out my C.V. Heck, Chapters isn't sounding all that bad these days, especially with the new Harry Potter coming out, they'll probably need an extra pair of hands.

Hell, even a job that would make me plant trees for the city of Montreal sounds better than what I'm doing now. At least I'd be outside and getting some sunshine and exercise. Then again, knowing me I'd probably overheat and pass out on the first day or something. Bah.

I need to find a job in which I can make my own hours. I wish I had enough energy to actually devote time to my writing and potentially make money that way, but I tend to be filled with so much self-doubt about my poor scribblings that nothing ever comes of those half-baked dreams.

Meh.

if you're gonna apply at Chapters, now is a good time. we're understaffed in our store, so i'm guessing they're prob'ly understaffed everywhere. i'll ask my managers and see if the recommendation program works across stores (i could give you a foot in the door, if you will -- if it works). which Chapters were you thinking of applying to?

Prolly the one downtown, but if it's reasonably accessible by car, I'd apply anywhere. :)

oh the trials of working a help desk. i am sending you all the positive thougths i have... hope they help.. oh yeah and you know what always helped me get through my day. take a packet of coco put it in your coffee cup.. then pour in your coffee.. it is mocha goodness then..... just a tip from a former "phone bitch"

I did indeed look at it, and while I'm not qualified for those jobs (*sigh*) I'll be keeping an eye on that page.
